○한미는 연합방위태세 확립을 위해 3월 9일부터 19일까지 FS 연습을 시행하기로 하였습니다.

The Republic of Korea and the United States will conduct the Freedom Shield (FS26) exercise from March 9 to 19 to strengthen the Alliance’s combined defense posture.

○이번 FS 연습은 한미가 연례적으로 실시하는 방어적 성격의 연습으로, 최근 전훈분석 결과와 도전적 전장환경 등 현실적인 상황을 연습 시나리오에 반영함으로써 '연합·합동 전영역 작전'을 포함한 한미 동맹의 연합방위태세 강화와, 한미가 합의한 조건에 기초한 전작권 전환 준비를 지속적으로 추진하는 계기가 될 것입니다.

FS26 is an annual exercise that is defensive in nature. By incorporating realistic threats, including lessons learned from recent conflicts and challenging security environment, it will serve as an opportunity to further strengthen the Alliance's readiness and capabilities through combined, joint, all-domain operations. This exercise will also serve as an opportunity to support ongoing preparations for a conditions-based wartime operational transition, consistent with alliance agreement.

○또한, 연합연습 기간에 연습 시나리오와 연계된 대한민국 방위에 필수적인 동맹의 훈련(Warrior Shield)을 실시함으로써 실전성과 전투준비태세를 강화해 나갈 것입니다.

During the exercise period, the Alliance will conduct Warrior Shield, combined training linked to the exercise scenario and essential to the defense of the ROK to enhance training realism and combat readiness.

○유엔사는 이번 연습에 유엔사 회원국들을 참가시킬 예정이며, 중립국감독위원회는 정전협정 준수 여부를 관찰할 것입니다. <끝>

Several United Nations Command Member States plan to contribute to the exercise. The Neutral Nations Supervisory Commission will observe the exercise to monitor compliance with the Armistice Agreement. <End>
